Valentine's Party on Nic Marsh's blog. Hot heroes invited!!

Time to get your party dress out of mothballs and squeeze into your magic knickers (well, I'll be squeezing anyway after the Christmas that restraint forgot)! My fellow Mod Hot author Nicola Marsh is throwing a Valentine's Party on her blog and some great authors and their seriously hot heroes will be there.

It starts tomorrow on Feb 1st and runs through till Valentine's Day. As well as some fab authors giving up the goss on the guys who inspired their hottest heroes.... They'll be book giveaways galore to add to the party atmosphere.

So don't miss it.

Here's the invites so far:

1st   Kate Hardy (Will she or won't she bring Antonio is the question?)
2nd  Donna Alward
3rd   Anna Campbell (would sooo like to know who inspired the uber sexy Lord Sheene in Untouched)
4th   Paula Roe
5th   Holly Jacobs
6th   Julie Cohen (I'm taking a wild guess and thinking David Tennant may be mentioned!)
7th   Anna Cleary
8th   Robyn Grady
9th   Ally Blake
10th Heidi Rice (that's me folks, fashionably late as always!!)
11th scheduled
12th Lucy King
13th Natalie Anderson
14th Nicola Marsh

There may be a few surprise gatecrashers too, so keep your eyes peeled on Nic's blog!

Public Affair gets Four Stars from RT

Am currently doing the snoopy dance after reading my four star review in the March edition of Romantic Times for Public Affair, Secretly Expecting! Here's the review which had my head swelling to impossible proportions:

PUBLIC AFFAIR, SECRETLY EXPECTING (4) by Heidi Rice: Juno Delamare is determined to get her friend's estranged brother, Hollywood actor Mac Brody, to his wedding, even if she has to meet the plane he's on at Heathrow to hand him the invitation. She hadn't planned on kissing him at the same time. Mac had no plans to go to the wedding, but he can't get Juno off his mind. What they agree will be a short-and-steamy fling turns serious when Juno finds out she's pregnant. Rice has a knack for setting up story openings that immediately catch your attention. Here she starts with the fun and flirty, gradually leading into a heartfelt, emotional tale.

And to add to the kudos my Modern Heat buddy Kelly Hunter went one better with her March release Exposed: Magnate's Misbehaving Mistress and got a Top Pick. So congrats to Kelly too!

And anyone who has the sneaking suspicion that I am using my excitement to avoid my current WIP would be entirely incorrect. Of course.

BTW, I have just signed up again for Brenda Novak's Auction which they are putting together as we speak and goes online in May. I'll be offering a critique of a first chapter and synopsis aimed at Harlequin Presents or Presents Extra, plus two signed books... So will keep you posted on that one.

Join Johnny Depp and me at The Pink Heart Society

Coming out of the cave to say I'm linking up with Johnny Depp on the Pink Heart Society for Must-Watch Friday tomorrow with a blog on the gun-toting John Dillinger biopic Public Enemies.

Oh, all right then, it ain't exactly a romance, but there are some serious romantic elements with the gorgeous Marion Cotillard playing Johnny's girl.

Had a long chat with my ed about my latest and it looks like Thunderbirds Are Go with Maddy and Rye's story (until they crash and burn that is!) Anyhow, still in the first flush of love with this story which I'm enjoying no end. The dramatic North Cornwall setting is going to move to glittering London high society at Christmas in the last half, so it's got some great settings too (which I actually know something about).

Of course, having read back over my blogs for the last book when I had a similar sunny start and then ended up in a car wreck I'm not counting my blessings just yet. But fingers crossed. And when the worst comes to the worst, I can always rely of Johnny D for inspiration!

Facebook... Another great time suck!

Hello peeps, popping in to tell you all about how I've found another great way to suck all the time out of my day without me even noticing... As you may have noticed by the clever little badge thingy that I discovered how to invent and upload to my blog after a mere half an hour of mucking about.

Ah the wonders of Facebook.

In other news I have just agreed to do two hours of local radio interviews for the BBC in honour of Valentine's Day on 12th Feb.... Am in deep denial about this having never done any radio interviews before and knowing that my voice sounds really crap when recorded (even when I'm not talking crap, which I probably will be on 12th Feb). Hence the decision to join Facebook and take my mind off it... See it all makes a weird sort of sense.

Anyway, if you want to 'friend me' here's the link to my profile (I hope). Right, back to the latest WIP which is going great guns at the moment... But seems to have got extremely hot and steamy. Am thinking this has something to do with the fact that I bought my oldest son the box set of Sex and the City for Christmas and after watching far too much of it I may have suddenly turned into Samantha!

Saluting Natalie Anderson... And Free Books!!

Popping in from the cave to salute my fellow Modern Heat author Nat Anderson's fantastic news... She's just hit the USA Today bestseller list with her latest Presents release Ruthless Boss, Royal Mistress (one of the Royal House of Karedes series).

So whoo-hoo to Nat for a fantastic book getting the kudos it deserves.... And if you want to race over to her blog she's giving away a free copy of her chart success as well as her latest MH To Love, Honour and Disobey so we can all share in her Snoopy Dance!

Nice one Nat.

Hello 2010!

Popping in a couple of days late to wish everyone who reads this blog (or better yet reads my books!) a fabulous 2010! (what the heck happened to 2009 - I feel like I blinked and it flashed past in a nano-second). Have to say I just heard a great story on the news about a group of revellers who went to Britain's highest pub in the Yorkshire Dales to ring in the New Year and have now been snowed in there for three days.... According to one of them who was interviewed on the radio they're 'keeping their spirits up'! I'll bet... Sounds like a great story to kick off a romance.

Anyway, back to business:

Things to look forward to this year:

Public Affair, Secretly Expecting is due out in Australia and New Zealand this month as a Sexy Sensation, and the US as a Harlequin Presents in March.

And my seventh Modern Heat novel, Unfinished Business with the Duke will be hitting the shelves in the UK and Ireland come June. As we sadly no longer have a Borders in  my neck of the woods I'll be popping into the West End to see it on the shelves (which never gets old let me tell you). And posting a sneak peek from the opening chapter on my website shortly.

New Year's Resolution:

To finish my next MH by the end of February. Which seeing as I've barely even started it is a pretty tall order... (oh, and to loose ten pounds of course, but that's a rolling resolution thats been on the go for three years!!). So if I'm  not blogging much in the months ahead my mad typing frenzy might have something to do with it. Still will try and pop back every so often and keep you informed about how Rye and Maddy's story is going. At the moment I've got a cracking opening chapter... Plus I know the heroine has a battered Fiat Panda called Scarlet, the hero lives in a gothic mansion on a Cornish cliff and they get stuck over night there in a blackout. And that's about it! No conflict, and no plot to speak of yet so I better stop waffling about Yorkshire revellers and get to it.
